Social Insurance Number

• Scholarship America will reach out to Canadian recipients ahead of award payment processing to request that they provide their SIN through a secure process. The SIN is required to produce a T4A slip and process their award payment.
• As payer of the award, Scholarship America is required to send the recipient a T4A slip for reporting the funds to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The recipient must inform their school so that reporting to CRA is not duplicated.

 
USD to CAD Award Payment

• Award payments will be issued in USD, made payable to the recipient’s school, and sent to the recipient’s home mailing address in a Scholarship America envelope.
• The recipient’s school will be able to convert the funds from USD to CAD when the recipient presents their award payment.
